The UK industry group representing manufacturers of EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) for construction applications has issued the first of a new series of technical briefings covering sustainability issues.

In a UK-wide mailing to UK architectural practices, local authority property professionals and construction company specifiers, the new technical briefing is the first of the series which also includes technical credentials for EPS relating to long-life and high-performance applications across a wide range of applications from floor, wall and roofing insulation to sub-structures and void fill for civil engineering projects, foundation systems and clay heave protection.

The new briefing is available in hard copy or PDF format and has been prepared by industry experts under the guidance of the British Plastics Federation. It reinforces the news that EPS scored the highest A+ summary rating in every one of four different densities tested in the latest and most rigorous BRE Global Green Guide to Specification – a conclusion supported by at least eight ‘straight As’ in each of the separate impact ratings for each EPS density.

The EPS Technical Briefing also supports a 20 page specifier guide produced earlier in the year which was distributed as a library reference to UK architects and builders.

Launching the new technical briefings, David Emes, representing the EPS Group said, “We are mailing a new technical briefing to construction professionals every month up to Christmas. These cover the kind of specialist information that our architectural and construction specifiers need in a single, authoritative leaflet. EPS offers outstanding advantages and excellent credentials. It is a long-established, high-performance material offering a unique combination of solutions to the building sector.”
