Gleeds have just been re-appointed to provide a raft of services including Cost and Project Management, on phase two of a major £20m store refit programme by communication giants O2 Telefonica which will eventually bring about the re-branding of over 100 new-style mobile phones stores all over the UK.

Having completed the first phase of thirty stores for O2 Telefonica, Gleeds was praised by Gerry Breen O2 Telefonica’s Property Manager for their “can do” attitude which led to their re-appointment after a competitive tender process. The company now uses Gleeds in all of its rebranding, acquisition, franchise and refit programmes.

He said “Gleeds are a one-stop shop solution for us with all our cost and project management, building surveying and CDM being undertaken by them. In the first phase of this important re-fit programme they have always risen to the challenge posed by our aggressive time, cost and quality demands and we therefore have no hesitation in re-appointing them on the basis of their professionalism and commitment.” Gerry Breen went on to add, “Gleeds are always prepared to go the extra mile and I can personally vouch for the stamina and excellence of their operation.”

Gleeds is providing the full range of retail roll out consultancy services including Project Management, Cost Consultancy, Programme Management, Building Surveying and CDM as well as Health and Safety advice. The also gain Landlord Consent approvals.

The new stores span a range of designs from small Kiosk’s to large Flagship premises and will boast a whole new approach to the retail experience for mobile phone customers. The newly designed stores will include on-site “Guru’s” and a “Guru Phone bar” where communications experts will be on hand to deliver advice on a total package of products from broadband connectivity to the laptop computers.

“This is a massive fit out programme”, said Stuart Senior, the Managing Partner at Gleeds responsible for the project, “ we have worked with this client since 2002 and have forged a fantastic relationship with O2 Telefonica and these new stores represent a huge step forward in the retail offering for their customers. We aim to get all 100 stores completed by the end of the year.”
