Redland achieves certification to ISO 14001
(30/08/2010)
Redland has announced it has recently achieved certification to ISO 14001 for its Environmental Management System in all of its seven UK manufacturing sites.
The immediate incentive to get the official certification is customer demand, as Andy Webber, project manager, is happy to confirm: “Our clients increasingly need to demonstrate that environmental considerations are part of their procurement policy – particularly in light of the challenging demands of The Code for Sustainable Homes.”
However, the focus on improving its environmental performance is not new for Redland – which was an industry pioneer a decade ago when it volunteered to participate in the government’s climate change levy scheme.
“A focus on reducing energy consumption and waste is absolutely central to our company philosophy” is how Andy Webber puts it. “Going through the certification process has helped us to raise further awareness of the issues and to mobilise a collective focus on every aspect of the business to work towards the goal of improvement.”
Achieving the certification is not, of course, the end of the process, and Redland remains committed to ongoing improvement, continually setting itself demanding targets with the determination to make a real difference both within our company and in the built environment.
