Three new mini excavators from JCB

JCB is launching three new mini excavators designed to further enhance JCB’s range of compact models for small contractors, plant hirers, landscapers and utility companies. The three machines include two versions of the new 8055 and the 8020.
Based on JCB’s 8045 platform, the 8055 will be available as either reduced tailswing or zero tailswing and will compete in the 5-6 tonne sector. The machines will replace the existing 8052 in the JCB range and will go into full production during 2008.
A third new machine is the 8020, which will compete in the 1.9-2.3 tonne operating weight class. Based on JCB’s 801 series, the 8020 is positioned between the existing 8018 and 8025 models and is now in full production.
With reduced rather than zero tailswing, the 8020 specifically targets the European market where recent towing regulations and the increased popularity of ‘crew cab’ style pick up trucks makes this machine the largest that can be legally towed behind this type of vehicle. The 8055 is set to make its mark in the increasingly competitive mini/midi excavator market in both Europe and North America.
All three machines bear the hallmarks of JCB’s compact excavator range with spacious, quiet cabs featuring ergonomic, easy to operate controls. They offer controllability across a full range of applications, whether using excavator operation, dozer operation or in line tracking. In terms of general service access and overall serviceability, both the 8020 and 8055 are best in class.
The 8055 will also feature a number of new options in line with growing market demand. Options such as Air Conditioning and Low flow Hydraulics will now be available. Both the RTS and ZTS 8055 machines will also have greater tracking speeds and feature as standard auto kick down track motors for ease of operation when conditions demand.
