(05/06/2008)
The Travis Perkins Group has launched a new website dedicated to its management training programme to drive the recruitment of young people onto the scheme that are looking for a career in the building and construction industry.
www.BuildingMe.co.uk details what the 120 successful applicants can expect from the two year course. The micro-site also showcases a range of short films about former trainees, facts and figures about the Travis Perkins Group, and an insight into its various brands and businesses.
To be eligible for the scheme, interested applicants need to be 18 or over on 31 August 2008 and hold four GCSEs including English and Maths. Applications must be made online by 11 May 2008.
Louise Mitchell, Head of Group Talent, Travis Perkins plc, said: “The internet continues to be a highly influential tool to communicate with young people. We conducted extensive focus testing while developing the site to ensure that the design and content are both appealing to the target audience and drive home the excellent prospects a career at the Travis Perkins Group affords.”
The Travis Perkins Management Training Scheme was launched in 1974 and has seen thousands of people successfully complete the course, including the company’s current Chief Operating Officer, John Carter. The Group holds a unique position in the recruitment market, with its scheme lasting for two years, opposed to the typical one year employed other graduate and recruitment schemes. This two year training period ensures the trainees gain an extensive understanding of the Travis Perkins Group’s business and the management principles needed to do their job, as well as a valued, external qualification.
