The CDM2007.org project, initiated and managed by the London Borough of Bromley, has been short-listed in two categories in the 2008 Annual Construction Health and Safety Awards, which reward excellence, innovation and professionalism in all areas of construction safety, occupational health and staff welfare.

CDM2007.org delivers comprehensive modular training and detailed support materials through a dedicated website aimed primarily at local authorities and public service organisations. The training programme provides the tools necessary for construction personnel to meet the government and industry standards redefined by the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007 (CDM2007).

Nominated for the ‘Best Safety Product or Equipment Award’, CDM2007.org is now one of just six remaining entries being considered by the judges. The Awards will be announced at a ceremony on the 17th June at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane in London.

Conceived originally to meet the training needs and standards of the London Borough of Bromley, the project has now been extended to serve other local authorities, public services and private sector organisations across the UK.

The project’s creative driver and marketing manager, David Jones, is also one of three short-listed finalists in the Awards’ ‘Health & Safety Champion of the Year’ category.

David Jones has been a key player in devising the project, its authoritative content and its successful rollout to the Building, Construction and Design professionals. He has been active in developing a stronger safety culture in the construction industry since 1995. Last year he won the Award for Innovation 2007 from the London Borough of Bromley. The Demonstration Programme organised by Constructing Excellence, a body that aims to deliver improved industry performance, has also awarded ‘Demonstration Status’ to CDM2007.org.

“CDM2007.org is an important and distinctive project, not just because it delivers effective training for the building and construction industry in the face of exacting requirements and in some cases stringent penalties, but because it supports an improved culture of health and safety, reduces injuries and fatalities and ensures safer communities nationwide,” commented Steve Dalby, Business Manager at CDM2007.org.

“David Jones has played a vital part in creating and bringing this much needed project fruition. That is, of course, as well as making an effective long term contribution to the advancement of Building and Construction Health and Safety standards and practice. We look forward to hearing the judges final decisions later this month.” Said Dalby
