Established back in 1971 and long standing member of the NFDC (National Federation of Demolition Contractors) since inception, Embassy Demolition Ltd, specialising in demolition and recycling solutions for projects covering Greater London and the Home Counties has taken delivery of a range of Volvo excavators for its fleet.

The models in question are a fourteen tonne EC140B, two twenty one tonne EC210C’s, a twenty four tonne EC240CL excavator and the larger twenty nine tonne EC290CL. Completing the package is a second hand EC460B complete with three piece demolition equipment. The machine has a reach of 26 metres as well as the ability to convert back to standard backacter thanks to its modular boom joint.

Choosing more Volvo excavators for his fleet Managing Director Jim O’Doherty comments. “It’s the build quality and reliability we like about the Volvo machines. They are robust and well specified for this sort of application.”

Volvo’s level of after market support is just as important to his operation with all the Volvo equipment on site being covered by Volvo’s Blue Customer support agreements. Under this arrangement all his Volvo machines are serviced and maintained by qualified Volvo service engineers including regular inspections, oil sampling and analysis and comprehensive, proactive reports to maximise machine productivity with the aim of enhancing residual values.

Volvo C series excavators are powered by Volvo Tier III low-emission engines which contribute to an excellent performance and are well matched to the machine’s hydraulics providing high efficiency, rapid dig cycles and low fuel consumption. An advanced mode control system ensures the maximum possible hydraulic horsepower available is delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions.

In addition, boom and arm geometry provide highly competitive digging forces and lifting capacities, which makes for faster work cycles. Hose rupture valves are fitted as standard to the boom and dipper cylinders as are quick fit hydraulics and a hammer/shear service. The models supplied to Embassy demolition have side impact protection and heavy duty cab guards as part of Volvo’s demolition specification package.
