Eco-friendly hoarding commissioned by Dublin Airport
(01/07/2008)
Dublin Airport has commissioned 1.5km of a new type of eco-friendly hoarding developed by a Yorkshire firm. The Ecogenik hoardings are being used during the construction of the new T2 terminal, part of a 2billion-Euro drive to transform the airport.
Ecogenik Hoarding Systems UK has developed the light-weight external pvc hoardings from recycled plastic. They are ‘demountable’ – meaning they can be dismantled and moved around a construction site easily - and they can be recycled again, rather than ending up in a landfill site which is the fate of timber hoardings.
Ecogenik Director John Whaites said: “These hoardings have proved an overnight success. They’ve been used at Centre Parcs, Heathrow, and Manchester Airport – we’re delighted that Dublin Airport is our first export order. The hoardings at T2 have already interested other Irish construction companies. The hoardings can be used 10 or 20 times for different sites, and we’ll buy them back at the end of their useful life. The hoardings are making a major impact on the environmental friendliness of many building sites.”
