Jotun Paints (Europe) Ltd’s Conseal TU protective coating has been specified for the refurbishment of one of the most well known landmarks in North London – Camden Lock Railway Bridge.

The 50 metre-long bridge, which carries the London Overground Railway over the Chalk Farm Road, has been repainted by specialist painting contractors SAS Decorators using approximately 300 litres of Conseal.

The repainting work, which saw the restoration of the iconic ‘Camden Lock’ mural on the side of the bridge, was completed in three months for bridge owners Network Rail and Camden Town Council as part of the refurbishment of several key features in and around the Camden Lock area,.

Conseal, which is a quick drying acrylic finish specifically designed to protect steelwork and other metals against corrosion, was specified because of its high performance, low maintenance qualities – it offers up to six years weather protection.

Jotun technical sales advisor Mac De Sousa said: “With the double benefit of an eye-catching quality finish and all round anti-corrosive protection, Conseal was the ideal solution for this application.”

Jotun Paints (Europe) Ltd is part of the Norway-based Jotun Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of paints, coatings and powder coatings. In the UK, it provides protective coatings for the offshore, cathodic and industrial sectors, marine coatings and decorative paints sectors. This is supported with a technical advice service as part of its on-going commitment to customer service.
