Nobles Construction has beaten-off competition from 26 contractors across Europe to build the new All Saints Catholic Primary School in Bootle. The £4.7million project is set to be completed in Spring 2009 and will see the opening of one of the most environmentally compliant and technically advanced education centres in the country.

All Saints forms part of the government’s ‘Schools for the Future’ programme and will aid its commitment to reducing carbon emissions. The new green school will generate its own power and be able to conserve energy.

Photovoltaic and solar panels will be installed on its south-facing roof and will be able to produce electricity and hot water for school use, helping the school to cut energy bills and carbon emissions.

Dave Shaw, Managing Director at Nobles Construction, said: “The design and orientation of the site, the selection of natural materials and use of natural ventilation and daylight have all been designed to maximise energy efficiency. In addition, All Saints will utilise a range of sustainable energy solutions including solar, wind and geothermal, together with water harvesting.

All Saints will rank as one of the few schools in Merseyside to be assessed by BREEAM (the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method), which sets standards for sustainable development, and will become a benchmark for environmental best-practice within the education sector.

The contract was issued by the Official Journal of the European Union and attracted interest from a number of leading contractors from across Europe. Winning the tender is a fantastic accolade for Nobles and testament to astute planning and a wealth of education sector experience. It will, undoubtedly, enable us to strengthen our foothold in this market.”
