ISG Jackson completes multi-million projects at Cambridge Hospital
(12/03/2009)
ISG Jackson Special Projects has completed two projects at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, with a combined value of over £2.5 million. The contractor has now handed over a new PET and CT scanner unit at the hospital, as well as completing work on a fast-track scheme to refurbish the Clinical School’s existing medical library.
The new scanner unit was created by rationalising space within the hospital, with ISG Jackson Special Projects stripping out and consolidating a series of former offices and consulting rooms on the ground floor of the main building. The contractor carried out minor demolition works to create the new state-of-the-art facility, which has been fitted out to a clinical standard and features high specification mechanical & electrical services to provide resilience for the two medical scanners.
Work has also concluded on the refurbishment of the medical library for the University of Cambridge, which is housed on the third and fourth floors of the hospital building. ISG Jackson Special Projects was tasked with stripping out existing soft furnishings, ceilings and partitions, remodelling areas of the library and installing new mechanical and electrical services throughout. New suspended ceilings, lighting, flooring and partition walls were installed and a reception area created, along with a number of administrative offices.
Stuart Talbot, divisional director for ISG Jackson Special Projects, commented: "Adopting highly flexible working practices has proved essential across both projects at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, as we operated within a live environment that was staffed 24 hours a day. Maintaining continuity of service for the hospital was critical and we worked hard to implement a flexible construction programme that delivered these projects in line with our clients’ expectations, whilst minimising any potential disruption for medical staff and patients.”
