CEP Claddings delivers provide the precise colour and texture of panelling for the Paradise Project
(11/06/2009)
Covering 42 acres in the heart of Liverpool, the Paradise Project is a large retail-led mixed use development with six districts, each designed with its own distinctive character. Completed in 2008 when Liverpool became the European Capital of Culture, it features 40 individually designed buildings, a pedestrianised boulevard and flagship retail stores, offering over 1.6 million square feet of shopping.
When specialist contractor, Lakesmere Ltd., wanted cost certainty for the cladding design of Liverpool’s Paradise Street development area, CEP Claddings came to their assistance – and identified Petrarch Stone as the most practical solution.
The CEP team were able to provide the precise colour and texture of panelling, as envisaged in the architect’s original concept for Paradise Street’s new crèche and apartment blocks, as well as delivering a mechanical secret fix system that would provide a flawless finish.
Said Ian Carpenter, “CEP Claddings’ product knowledge was second to none. They were really helpful in achieving the exact colours we were looking for. They bent over backwards to provide samples of the different textures available. Their colour matching service at the factory in Hastings was key to achieving the right result.”
After close discussion with the architect, Haworth Tomkins, the choice of panel colours were agreed. As a result, 410 sqm of 10mm Petrarch panels in Matt Graphite were used for the façade of the new crèche building at Paradise Street, which featured a glazed area and secure play space.
The larger scale buildings have apartments at higher levels, for which CEP Cladding also supplied 356 sqm of Petrarch panels in Matt Silver Grey. The 10mm Petrarch was fabricated in ready to install panels in Hastings and supplied to site through BBS Ltd., a North West Based cladding distributor.
