Quartix pay as you go vehicle tracking service wins Innovation Award
(06/08/2009)
Quartix has won the Innovation Award in this year’s Van Fleet World Honours. The company’s managing director, Andy Walters, received the prize from Van Fleet World editor, John Kendall, during a ceremony at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall, London.
Mr Kendall said: “Quartix has been at the forefront of telematics delivery for many years, and has been a persistent innovator, with a strong track record in commercial vehicle fleet management. Their new pay as you go service takes telematics to a wider audience and is a sign that the company really understands the needs of its market place.”
The Fleet World Honours are presented annually to motor manufacturers, service companies and individuals who have, in the opinion of the judges, achieved the highest possible level of excellence in their sector.
Chairman of the judges, George Emmerson, an industry professional who has managed fleets at IBM, NHBC and Black Horse Agencies, said: “Quartix stands out in the sector as one of the companies most able to develop new products and services, and most able to deliver them in an efficient, timely and cost effective manner.
“The services provided by the telematics industry have become increasingly important to commercial vehicle fleet operators, providing a wide range of safety, security, operational and customer service benefits.”
Mr Walters added: “I am especially pleased to receive this award as it recognises the fact Quartix is constantly striving to provide telematics products that meet the needs of its customers. Our new, innovative pay as you go vehicle tracking service is a prime example.”
Among members of the judging panel were Ken Rogers, John Kendall and Ross Durkin of Fleet World’s editorial team, and fleet manager Jackie Pomfrett.
Mr Durkin, Fleet World’s managing director, said: “Despite the difficult economic conditions, we had a tremendous number of entries in this year’s Fleet World Honours – a sign not only of the significance of the awards themselves, but also of the tremendous level of service, innovation and competition that exist within the fleet industry today. Those who have won can be justifiably proud of their achievement.”
The company recently introduced a pay as you go service – becoming the first major telematics provider to do so. Prior its launch businesses were obliged to sign up to fixed-lease periods of typically three to five years.
With the Quartix system operators can track their vehicles online 24 hours a day, seven days a week using one of three methods of payment: outright purchase, lease finance, and Quartix Pay As You Go. The Pay As You Go service can be tailored to suit an operator’s exact requirements, from simple tracking through to a Corporate system, ideal for large multi-site vehicle fleets.
