JDP extends UK branch network by opening a new facility in Ellesmere Port

JDP, one of the country’s leading distributors of above and below ground civil engineering and drainage systems, has extended its UK branch network by opening a new facility on Rossmore Industrial Estate in Ellesmere Port.

Locally born comedian, Mr Ken Dodd, said: “How tickled I am to have been asked to open what is a brand new facility. At a time of continuing economic uncertainty, it is great news to see a company such as JDP continuing to expand, which can only help benefit the region as a whole. I’m sure the new branch will be a huge success and I welcome them into Ellesmere Port’s business community.”

Attended by a number of key suppliers, such as Wavin, Polypipe, Titan, Naylor Drainage Limited and Charcon, together with representatives from JDP’s management team, the official opening was followed by a charity raffle that raised £6,000 for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, also of Ellesmere Port.

Commenting on behalf of JDP, Regional Manager, Andy Hoarty said: “Ellesmere Port is the ideal location for our latest branch as it offers great communication links throughout the North West and North Wales, which has previously been served by our Bolton and Heywood facilities. It will now provide us with the opportunity to offer customers an improved and more efficient level of local service. We are delighted that such a well known comedian as Ken Dodd OBE took the time to open the branch and help us raise valuable funds for the hospice in the process.”

Covering a one-acre site and involving investment to the tune of £250,000, the new Ellesmere Port branch has created four new jobs. Targeting ground workers, civil engineering contractors, utility providers, builders and plumbers, the branch will stock an extensive range of products including solutions for adoptable sewers, house drainage, rainwater, soil, waste, channel and land drainage, gullies and covers, storm water management, ducting and fuel tanks.

Established in the early 1980s and forming part of the Tessenderlo Group – an internationally diversified chemicals group – JDP provides a one-stop shop for civil engineering and drainage systems. With Ellesmere Port now on-stream, JDP trades through a network of 26 UK branches.
