ISG Jackson builds affordable homes for Swan Housing Group

ISG Jackson has completed one of its first projects secured under a £400 million framework partnership with affordable homes provider, Swan Housing Group across Essex and East London. The £3 million scheme at Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, has seen the contractor build 36, two bedroom flats on a brownfield site close to the centre of the town.

The project has played a major role in improving the local built environment and is a key note regeneration scheme within Clacton-on-Sea. The first phase of the development saw ISG Jackson demolish and clear away a number of derelict outbuildings across the site, before construction work could commence.

A key aim of the new development was to improve the quality of life for all residents and ISG Jackson worked closely with Swan Housing Group to deliver a scheme that includes attractive design and detailing elements. The design of the new three-storey building reflects the local architecture, with a brick and timber clad façade and pitched tiled roof, with attractive juliet balconies for upper level flats and external patio areas for ground floor homes.

The development has achieved a Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 environmental rating thanks to the use of high performance insulation materials and an innovative air source heat pump system providing highly efficient heating. The project was successfully delivered on time and within budget, highlighting the continued effectiveness of the partnering framework procurement route.
