Experts meet at conference to discuss solutions for construction waste
(08/10/2009)
The Construction Waste – the road to zero? conference will examine progress since the Site Waste Management Plans Regulations came into force in April 2008. The Plans were introduced by the Government for projects over £300,000 to improve materials resource efficiency and to reduce fly tipping by restricting opportunities for illegal disposal of waste.
Speakers from Government agencies and the construction industry will explain how to comply with the regulations and make use of the latest tools and technology to improve resource efficiency in construction. Topics covered will include the Implementing Site Waste Management Plans from the perspective of designers, contractors and industry management. There will be twin sessons running in the afternoon covering the infrastructure of minimising waste and innovation. By the end of the conference delegates will leave with a better understanding of how to plan and operate effecitve site waste management strategies.
The conference takes place at the AirSpace Conference Centre at the Imperial War Museum Duxford on Thursday 29 October and starts at 9.30am. It has been organised by the Institution of Civil Enginers in partnership with the Institution of Mechancial Engineers, NISP (National Industrial Symbiosis Programme), Environment Agency and Inspire East with support from WRAP and the Government Office for the East of England.
Organised on a not-for-profit basis delegate places are £95 + VAT or there is a half-day rate of £65 + VAT which includes lunch.
