Beach Hut Resorts roll out pilot scheme to build twenty one luxury beach huts
(20/10/2009)
A pilot scheme to build twenty one luxury beach huts is now to be rolled out throughout the UK in a £35m expansion plan. Each beach hut will sleep four to six people, with a separate bedroom, fully fitted kitchen, bathroom, sitting area and 24 hour concierge service.
Beach Hut Resorts have declared their first luxury beach hut development to be in Whitley Bay, offering 24 hour overnight accommodation with full service facilities, 11 months of the year. The company behind the development, Newcastle upon Tyne based Beach Hut Resorts are in advanced discussions with Councils and land owners to develop similar schemes from the South Coast to Scotland.
Darren Baker, financial director of Beach Hut Resorts, said: "This project is about more than just providing a place where people can enjoy a truly traditional family holiday. Over the past 20 years cheaper, overseas package holidays have caused a huge decline in demand for the domestic holiday and short breaks; the financial effect on costal towns has simply been devastating. We are aiming to re-brand the “staycation” holiday, to enhance all that these exciting locations have to offer. As all of our products will be self catering the residents will be encouraged to use local outlets to eat drink and be entertained."
"Beach Hut Resorts will work closely with local businesses to ensure their guests can enjoy the very best shops, restaurants, entertainment and services the town has to offer. This will promote spend migration, encouraging positive regeneration for costal resorts and seaside towns. It’s a tragedy that a large percentage of our generation are not aware of the fantastic coastlines, culture and history we have or the opportunity to experience a relaxing vacation or an exhilarating break right here in the UK."
"We intend to create an opportunity for these locations to showcase themselves and to encourage families and visitors to re-visit again and again. We are currently in some exciting discussions with local Councils throughout the UK, not only about sites for new Beach Hut Resorts, but in the planning of cultural attractions with the resort as a keystone."
"We have decided to work with companies in the immediate location of each development and build program, using local merchants and suppliers whenever possible. We will be looking to local resources for our employment needs with an average of 6-10 positions per location. We believe these projects will give the local assets the exposure they need to attract further inward investment and development" he concluded.
Beach Hut Resorts will launch their first site for the start of the season next year, with the roll out following immediately after.
