ISG wins Northern Lincolnshire hospital project
(22/10/2009)
ISG has secured a £1.5 million project at Scunthorpe General Hospital for Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The multi-phased improvement scheme sees the contractor refurbish the existing Family Services Department as well as modernising and extending the Children’s Outpatient facilities.
To minimise the impact of the works on hospital services, a temporary partition wall will be constructed to subdivide the Family Services Department in two, allowing work to commence on reconfiguring and refurbishing the first half of the facility. Once this phase has been completed, staff and patients will take occupation of this area allowing ISG to complete the departmental refurbishment. In addition to upgrading mechanical and electrical services and redecorating the facility, ISG will create a number of new consulting rooms and an improved entrance area.
Work on the Children’s Outpatient facilities will be carried out concurrently and sees ISG build a single-storey extension in an enclosed courtyard area of the hospital. This additional capacity will provide a new over 10s waiting area, nursing room and doctors office. The Outpatient facility will also be fully refurbished and upgraded, as well as an existing parents room and high dependency unit, with the project scheduled for completion in April 2010.
Craig Tatton, managing director of ISG’s regional business, commented: "This latest scheme further reinforces ISG’s credentials within the health sector, undertaking challenging projects within busy live environments whilst maintaining continuity of critical services. Accessibility is always a key issue in projects of this nature and ISG has worked closely with the hospital to develop a robust phased construction programme to ensure client operations remain unaffected throughout the duration of the scheme.”
