ISG Jackson Special Projects completes regeneration development projet at the Port of Lowestoft
(13/11/2009)
ISG Jackson Special Projects has successfully completed a £1.4 million regeneration development with Associated British Ports (ABP) at the Port of Lowestoft, Suffolk. Working alongside Bidwells’ Building Consultancy team, the contractor has refurbished part of the former Waveney Fish Market to provide high specification office accommodation for new tenant, Greater Gabbard Offshore Winds Ltd.
The existing single-storey building has been extensively modernised to meet the new tenant’s specific requirements, with a modern office layout providing high quality open plan and cellular accommodation for Greater Gabbard’s onshore operational centre. The building also features changing facilities and shower rooms for staff working on the company’s offshore wind farm, which is located 23km off the Suffolk coast.
Externally, ISG Jackson Special Projects has carried out numerous enhancements to the existing façade, installing a new roof system and window units and improving the overall appearance of the building with coloured render panels and timber cladding. Two concrete dock pontoons have also been constructed in the harbour to provide safe moorings for the company’s service boats.
Stuart Talbot, divisional director for ISG Jackson Special Projects, commented: "The scheme represents an important regeneration development for the Port of Lowestoft, taking a disused building and turning this into high specification, desirable office accommodation. There is a real ambition to attract more businesses to relocate to the area and this latest project will undoubtedly play an important role and act as the catalyst for further regeneration efforts.”
Nick Ridehalgh, Port Director for ABP's Short Sea Ports, said: "ABP and ISG Jackson have worked closely together in the past in order to develop a number of projects at our East Anglian Ports. This latest facility at the Port of Lowestoft was delivered in good time and on budget and to the complete satisfaction of both ABP and our customer, Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Ltd.''
