ISG Jackson Special Projects secures Enfield school projects
(30/12/2009)
ISG Jackson Special Projects has secured two projects totalling £2.25 million with the London Borough of Enfield to extend and modernise facilities at Raglan Junior School and Raglan Infants School. These project wins follow the recent announcement that the contractor has also secured an additional phase of work at Town Close House Preparatory School in Norwich, bringing the total value of this contract to just under £3 million.
The Enfield scheme sees the contractor demolish a number of prefabricated buildings across the site and then commence construction of a traditional single-storey extension to the front elevation of the existing Junior School building. The extension will house an enlarged dining area, new commercial kitchen facility and large storage area.
At the Infants School, ISG Jackson Special Projects will build a single-storey extension to provide four new classrooms, as well as increase the size of the existing dining hall and install a new commercial kitchen. Aiming to achieve a very good BREEAM environmental performance rating, the Junior School extension features solar collectors to help heat the water supply, whilst the addition to the Infants School boasts a living green roof. Both projects are scheduled for completion ahead of the start of the new academic year in 2010.
Stuart Talbot, divisional director for ISG Jackson Special Projects, commented: "Despite the economic downturn, the number of high quality opportunities that we are both pricing and winning suggests that there is still a high demand for quality contractors with strong industry credentials. The education sector has proved especially fruitful with a number of significant new contract awards, as well as several negotiated schemes, further demonstrating the importance of maintaining close working relationships with our clients.”
