Gebrik Insulating Brick Cladding System installed in Reading University student accommodation
(22/12/2009)
Aquarian Cladding has secured the largest single Gebrik project to be supplied in the UK to date. The company is to supply 7,500m2 of its Gebrik Insulating Brick Cladding System to a student accommodation project for Reading University.
As Reading is home to an internationally renowned centre of excellence for research and teaching in the built environment, it is entirely fitting that the construction of this new student hall will benefit from modern construction methods and materials, including Gebrik.
Designed by Stride Treglown, the external façade of the new halls features prefabricated radius corners and external returns to suit the full building height and will use 3,000m2 of Amsterdam Yellow, 3,800m2 of Dark Red Sandfaced and 700m2 of Blue Brindle Smooth.
The main contractor is Morgan Ashurst and specialist cladding contractor ECL Contracts Ltd will be on site from October 2009 until February 2010.
