Leadbitter Group completes sheltered housing development for Housing 21 Housing Association

Leadbitter Group has completed a new sheltered housing development in Moredon, Swindon, on behalf of Housing 21 Housing Association. The new extra care project, comprising 49 flats for over 55s, will also include a day centre.

This completed development is the latest in a series of collaborations with Housing 21 across the Group’s various divisions. Housing 21 has since asked Leadbitter to start work immediately on another project, Cambrian Drive, an extra care scheme in Yate, outside Bristol.

In the Eastern region, Leadbitter’s Kent-based subsidiary Denne has completed more than 20 projects with Housing 21 in the last nine years, delivering over 480 new and supported homes, including Pantiles House in Merton. This mixed tenure extra care development for Housing 21, in partnership with the London Borough of Merton, provides 33 apartments for people aged 55 and over and won 'Best Healthcare Project’ at the LDSA Building Excellence Awards 2009.

Other projects completed include twelve new extra care apartments beside the existing care home at Churchill Lodge in Barkingside, with an existing wing of the home being remodelled into 19 one- and two-bedroom apartments. A further 39 extra care apartments have been constructed, together with a communal lounge and support facilities, at Hoggs Hill in Crawley.
