Wilson Access Hire takes delivery of CTE ZED26J truck mounted aerial access platform
(02/02/2010)
Wilson Access Hire operates a fleet of truck and track mounted aerial access platforms providing maximum working heights to 53m for customers throughout the UK. Wilson Access Hire has taken delivery of the first CTE ZED26J truck mounted aerial access platform in the UK.
The company selected the ZED26J, which is mounted on a 7.5t Iveco Eurocargo chassis and offers 26m maximum working height, to meet growing demand for self-drive equipment with mid-range aerial access performance.
“Small and agile truck mounts offer great flexibility and the new CTE ZED26J fits in very nicely with our customer base which has shown a general increase in demand for self-drive units,” says Tom Wilson, managing director of Wilson Access Hire.
Larger platforms are supplied with a specialist IPAF accredited operator but there is increasing market demand for equipment mounted on 7.5t commercial vehicle chassis that can be driven and operated by the customer. Smaller access machines offered by the company include the CTE Traccess 170 track mounted platform.
“7.5t is as big as we will go on self-drive,” says Tom Wilson. “This adds a new dimension to our fleet and will enhance our ability to work in partnership with other companies and provide a wider choice to our customers.”
The CTE ZED26J is a larger version of the ZED20 model that has proved popular with the 3.5t self-drive market. Despite the compact overall dimensions, it offers 26m maximum working height and 14m outreach with unrestricted 230kg basket capacity, enough for two average sized people and 70kg of tools and equipment, in all configurations. Its sigma (Σ) boom can be configured to position the basket at almost any point within the working envelope.
The inclusion of the fly-jib at the end of the main boom allows the basket to access working areas “up and over” obstructions such as buildings or railings positioned between the vehicle and the workface. The same simple and intuitive controls and boom configurations as the ZED20, Traccess and other CTE machines helps to simplify operation for customers when switching between truck and track mounted equipment.
“The CTE is a very compact easy machine to use, much more so than some of the sophisticated German products, and I know my customers really like the working profile offered from the sigma boom,” says Tom Wilson.
