HARCA appoints Denne to its framework to assist in the delivery of social housing in east London
(17/02/2010)
Social landlord Poplar HARCA (Housing and Regeneration Community Association), which owns and manages around 8,500 homes in Poplar, East London, has appointed Denne to its framework to assist in the delivery of its development and regeneration programme. The programme consists of more than 30 separate projects, eight of which will be delivered in 2009/10, eleven in 2010/11 and the remainder in 2011 onwards.
Approximately 10% of the Poplar HARCA programme will be regeneration-based and 90% will be new build projects. The projects will include affordable rented accommodation, specialist and supported housing, low cost home ownership and key worker accommodation, plus some major refurbishment and homes for outright sale. Some schemes may involve the procurement of commercial and retail facilities, health and community centres, religious and educational establishments and have links with schools.
Bob Rendell, Leadbitter Group Chief Executive, said, “Denne’s success in securing a place on this framework is a fantastic achievement and is due to our proven track record in delivering affordable housing, residential development and regeneration. It is also a direct result of the increased standing and recognition that our Group, including Denne, the largest Kent-based contractor, has achieved. We have developed extensive expertise in this sector and constantly strive to gain new knowledge and to fully understand the needs of our Clients, delivering schemes that maximise value, achieve certainty of delivery and exceed expectations. I am enormously proud of the continued hard work, dedication and professionalism shown by everyone at Denne.”
