Locus Consultants acquired by Gleeds
(18/02/2010)
Locus Consultants, quantity surveyors and project managers located in Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh, was created five years ago by five ex Capita Property Services Directors who have built up a portfolio of projects all over the Midlands and Scotland. These include providing cost management expertise on Edinburgh City Council’s impressive £50m headquarters’ building as well as having a consultancy role on the massive 3m sq ft Eurocentral industrial project.
Locus Consultants have been acquired by Gleeds. These two organisations will merge and operate under the Gleeds brand with all 30 staff being transferred.
The Midlands division of the operation is currently providing cost management services on the LG Arena at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, and has recently completed a 200 unit residential scheme in Bromsgrove St in the City. Locus are well known for their expertise in Residential, Industrial, Commercial and Retail work and have clients that range from Marks and Spencer’s to British Land.
Alan Dickson, Managing Director at Locus described the announcement as “very exciting” adding, “Locus is already very well known in the cities in which we have a base. We have developed a strong track record working on an independent basis so joining with Gleeds will give us a much bigger platform from which to access the market and will enable us to quickly develop the joint business into a major player in each of the three cities."
Richard Steer, Senior Partner at Gleeds said, “This is great news for us. Locus Consultants has a stellar reputation as quantity surveyors and project managers. Working with their client base we can now add a whole new raft of services to their existing expertise including sustainability advice, facilities management and health and safety consultancy as well as regeneration.” He went on to add.
“We are one of the biggest brands in the UK for Construction Consultancy and have been keen to develop our presence in the Midlands and Scotland for some time. This new merger will offer a great opportunity for both parties.”
