The Leadbitter Group has been awarded the contract to build a development of affordable new homes at Shepherds Row in Andover, following its successful completion of a similar project in nearby Appleshaw.

Testway Housing, a member of the Aster Group, has contracted with Leadbitter to build two one-bedroom flats and 13 two- and three-bedroom houses with gardens and car parking, all of which will be available for rent when completed. Work is scheduled to start in early spring and is due to be completed in a year’s time.

The homes are being constructed on the site of a derelict former children’s home and an associated property, both of which are to be demolished as part of the project. Several mature trees are to be retained during the work.

David Cook, Regional Director of Leadbitter’s Southern Housing and Construction Division, said: “Leadbitter is delighted to be working in partnership with Testway Housing again. Our previous project at Pippin Grove in Appleshaw completed within budget and a full six weeks ahead of programme, amply demonstrating Leadbitter’s expertise in building affordable housing.”
