Gleeds refits the Mulberry headquarters in London
(24/06/2010)
Mulberry, internationally famed luxury brand, will be vacating their existing premises in Shepherd’s Bush and New Bond Street as the team has outgrown the space and will be taking up residence in the 36,000 sq ft Edwardian building which has been redesigned by UDS and Gensler. The 5 storey offices will be large enough to cater for a staff of up to 150 people. Previously the building was leased by McKinsey & Company.
Gleeds has been appointed as Cost Manager and CDM-Coordinator to the £4.3 million refit of the new Mulberry headquarters in Kensington, London.
In line with Mulberry’s reputation as a premium luxury brand in the fashion industry, their headquarters have also been designed to a very high specification and will feature a show room floor capable of displaying the full and expanding product range with a special area for VIP fittings. The new premises will become the home for the design, sales, marketing, retail and web teams and has been described as “the creative heartbeat of the Mulberry brand”.
“Kensington Church Street is a fabulous location for the Mulberry team however the building does present some challenges” said Guy Bonser, the Partner at Gleeds responsible for the project. “The uneven floor and ceiling heights were specific to previous tenants and the project team will be introducing features that reflect the unique Mulberry brand image. Following successful implementation scheduled for the early part of 2011, Mulberry will have a headquarters that is unique, stylish and practical, functioning as both an office and a show room.”
Chief Financial Officer for Mulberry, Roger Mather, concluded “The search for our new home has been underway since the summer of last year and so we are delighted to have now found the perfect location”.
