Mansell, Balfour Beatty's UK construction services business, has been appointed as one of three contractors to a £220 million four-year framework for the London Borough of Hackney and Hackney Homes' Decent Homes programme.

Mansell’s share of the framework will be worth approximately £73 million.

The programme will involve investment in existing housing stock and maintenance including external works and internal modifications to residential properties across the London Borough of Hackney. Mansell will also manage the specialist supply chain in collaboration with Hackney Homes. Work is scheduled to commence in October 2010.

Commenting Balfour Beatty Chief Executive, Ian Tyler, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to this framework and look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with Hackney Homes and the local community to deliver improved housing for residents.”

Mansell is a construction services business of Balfour Beatty plc with over 2,200 employees, a turnover in excess of £850 million and offices based across the UK.

Balfour Beatty’s current portfolio of affordable housing work includes a £57 million contract for Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council and Riverside Housing Association to build new homes and refurbish several hundred properties on estates in West Bromwich, a £17.7 million contract with First Base to construct a residential development in North London and a £10.1 million contract with Peabody for a mixed residential scheme at their historic Pimlico estate, London.

Balfour Beatty also has a presence on numerous local authority and housing association frameworks across the UK including a £35 million contract for Hammersmith & Fulham Homes to carry out internal improvements to homes within the Hounslow area, a £47 million contract for Barnet Homes and a £30 million contract for Homes for Islington for internal improvements, external repairs and environmental improvement works to housing stock.
