Construction underway for Derwenthaugh EcoParc autoclave recycling plant

Derwenthaugh EcoParc will be one of the world’s largest steam autoclave recycling plants on the banks of the River Tyne in Gateshead. This £50 million investment will offer a large waste recycling plant capable of treating 320,000 tonnes of municipal solid wastes and commercial wastes, and will divert more than 80 per cent of input wastes from landfill. Construction contractors are not passing on the full impact of the rising costs of materials and wages

According to the latest Tender Price Index compiled by RICS’ Building Cost Information Service (BCIS), construction contractors are not passing on the full impact of the rising costs of materials and wages, amid fears of a credit crunch backlash from clients unable to secure finance for new orders. The price of new construction work in Q1 2008 fell by 2.4 percent compared with the previous quarter whilst costs rose by 1.1 percent in the same period. CEMEX to sell its Austrian and Hungarian operations to Strabag

CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. has announced that it has reached an agreement to sell its Austrian and Hungarian operations to Strabag SE, one of Europe’s leading construction and building materials groups, for €310 million Euros (approximately US$485 million dollars). Closing of the transaction is subject to approval from regulatory authorities and Strabag's supervisory board. Proceeds from the sale will be used to reduce debt.
